Interior Design on a Budget : Part 1 (Living + Kitchen)

Updated: Jun 19, 2018

Hey y'all! I am so excited to invite you inside my loft apartment and to share some of my interior design and style tips- on a budget. I was so blessed to find this beautiful living space when it was under construction while visiting before moving back to Nashville. It was to be completed around the same time I was planning to move, so I say it was meant to be. I love my home.

My apartment is very bright and airy with several windows bringing in a lot of natural light; I adore that about it. I wanted to keep the aesthetic of my decor with that same feel incorporating a lot of white. I also mixed in some earth tones and pops of color in each room.

Tip: Invest in 1-3 staple pieces for each room and accent with more affordable pieces.

The Investment Pieces in this room are 1) Couch - I knew I wanted a white slip cover (it's washable + my dog loves it) couch that folded out into a queen size bed for guests since I have a small living space. *similar here* 2) Round Dining Table - I wanted the marble look (perfect for flatlay photos) although I definitely cannot afford the real thing so I was ecstatic when I found this "artificial marble" piece. The "marble" looks and feels real + I love the retro vibe of the base. The 36" width is the perfect size for a small space and it can easily seat 4 people (&/or dogs #lol). *also here* 3) Coffee table (love the copper/rose gold tone) was a great find with the help of my mom a few years back from Pier1. I love a coffee table with a unique element to it to add a fun twist to a living room. *similar here* & *here*

The more Affordable Accent Pieces in this room are 1) Dining Chairs & *here* 2) White Desk 3) Acrylic Chair & *here* 4) Faux Fur Rug + Plush Throw (so soft + only $40) both from Nordstrom (their home department is really stepping it up- they recently added anthropologie home online #LOVE.)

Tip: A few of my fav places to go (when I'm not shopping on amazon #lol) for affordable home finds are Home Goods (fringe pillows), Tuesday Morning & Target (marble desk lamp). *I also love finding unique pieces from vintage furniture stores like my white, distressed chairs- great unexpected find!

Tip: Find unique ways to display your favorite things. I store my essential oils in a dome cake stand *similar here*.

The Investment Pieces in my kitchen are 1) KitchenAid Mixer *on sale* (it was a Christmas gift from my parents, it's great for baking & a fun piece to display in the kitchen. 2) Dutch Oven by Le Creuset *on sale* (I recently got this on sale for myself and I adore using it for cooking. I plan to add more matching pieces to my collection over time.)

The Affordable Pieces in my kitchen are 1) White Barstools 2) Bar Cart (a lucky Target find a few years back) *similar here* 3) White "Marble": Marble + Mango Wood Cake Stand, Marble Jar (for dog treats) + Marble Bottle Opener.

I hope you enjoyed getting a glimpse into my living room and kitchen and some of my tips were helpful! Stay tuned for my bedroom coming soon. Remember it takes time to collect beautiful things and I didn't get all of my furniture etc. at once. Please ask any questions you might have in the comments below, I would love to answer. :) Hope your week is off to a wonderful start. Talk soon!

Love, Light and Glam,

Keely
